Vallejo is set to host its 36th Annual Juneteenth Parade & Festival on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Barbara Kondylis Waterfront Green, located at 301 Mare Island Way.
The day's festivities will commence with a vibrant parade at 9 a.m., starting at the intersection of Tennessee Street and Sonoma Boulevard.
The procession will wind through downtown Vallejo, culminating at the waterfront, where the festival will kick off at 11 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.
Attendees can look forward to live entertainment, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, health and wellness resources, job training and employment opportunities, homeownership and financial planning information, child and family services, and engaging activities for children, including face painting.
Since its inception in 1989, the Solano County African Family Reunion Celebration Committee (AAFRC) has been dedicated to organizing this annual event.
The committee's mission is to promote the national observance of Juneteenth, commemorate African American freedom, and celebrate the positive contributions of African Americans both nationally and locally.
Through partnerships with local non-profits and major healthcare providers, the AAFRC offers access to free healthcare and educational resources for families, youth, and children.
In addition to the main event, the Solano Art Council will host a free Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Temple Arts Lofts Gallery.
This event will feature art, poetry, and music, bringing the community together to honor the significance of Juneteenth.
For those interested in participating as vendors or exhibitors in the parade and festival, applications are currently being accepted.
More information can be found on the official Vallejo Juneteenth website.
As the community prepares to celebrate this historic occasion, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to join in the festivities, reflecting on the journey toward freedom and equality, and embracing the rich cultural heritage that Juneteenth represents. |
